Smoke Damage Emergency Fund

Lumber River United Way Needs Your Help

On Sunday, August 21, 2022, Lumber River United Way's office was damaged by smoke caused by a fire in an adjacent building. LRUW's office will be closed until Tuesday, September 6, 2022, and we need help from our communities!

All 2022 Campaign printed materials, tee shirts, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library marketing materials, NC-211 materials, and other documents have been ruined by smoke damage.

Please consider making a financial contribution to Lumber River United Way so we may finish the 2022 Campaign strong and expedite the printing and delivery of all new materials.

You may donate online and by choosing the SMOKE DAMAGE EMERGENCY FUND option when placing your online donation. Checks should be made payable to Lumber River United Way and mailed to PO Box 2652, Lumberton, NC 28358. Please write Smoke Damage in the memo line.

Volunteers are also needed to assist LRUW in packaging 2,100 feminine hygiene kits that were promised to Bladen County Schools and Hoke County Schools for the start of the school year. Please contact Margaret Crites at if you have availability to volunteer and for additional information.

United Way appreciates the community's support during this unsettling hiccup. Plans are underway for temporary office space, and we will keep the public informed.
